RM Re-Library is a series of reprints of two or three of the best volumes from the long history of RM LIBRARY , which has already published over 290 issues. The 30th volume in the series will be a reprint of RM Library Volume 16 , " B6 Memoirs (Japan National Railways Edition)," and Volume 17 , " B6 Memoirs (Private Railways, Dedicated Railways, and Dedicated Lines Edition)," both written by Tatsuo Seko.
The Railway Works Bureau Type B6 is a C- tank locomotive with axle arrangement C1 , which was later classified as JNR Type 2100 , 2120 , 2400 , and 2500. Positioned as a powerful locomotive for gradient lines, the original model was a British-made locomotive, but some were also manufactured domestically, and the same type of locomotive was ordered from Germany and the United States as they were needed in large quantities during the Russo-Japanese War, resulting in the creation of over 500 locomotives. This was an overwhelming number for a steam locomotive of that time, and as a result, they were used on JNR lines until the early 1950s after the war as shunting equipment. Many were also sold to private railways, private railways, and private lines, surviving until the late 1960s at the latest.
This book is divided into two parts, "JNR era" and "Private railway, private railway, and dedicated line era". The former starts with an overview of the prewar era, explains each type, and introduces modified locomotives such as 3500 , 2500 , 2700 , and 2900 , as well as the Manu 34 type heating car that used only a boiler. The chapter focusing on the form will be useful for modelers. The latter introduces the B6s of about 30 operators, summarizing their history, morphological characteristics, and subsequent developments.
It also contains a wealth of photographs and illustrations, making it a truly definitive book.
