As the postwar reconstruction period and the period of rapid economic growth continued, Keikyu continued to add large, high-performance vehicles, and the smaller cars such as the 230 series were gradually pushed out of their main line roles due to their age and inferior transport capacity. However, as they still made up a significant number of cars, they were made to continue to be used as the main line on branch lines, and were given major renovations such as converting both driver's cabs to single driver's cabs and updating the interior and exterior of the cars. Thus, the 230 series, which had been the main line of branch lines such as the Daishi and Kuko lines, was retired in 1978, and some were transferred to the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railroad in Kagawa Prefecture (now scrapped), and three cars remain in static preservation even today.
