A total of 55 cars of the De1 type and the same type that appeared on Shonan Electric Railway and Keihin Electric Railway from 1930 (Showa 5) became Tokyu Corporation Deha 5230 type and then Keihin Electric Railway Deha 230 type after the wartime merger. Meanwhile, eight three-door Deha 5170 type cars that were damaged in air raids were revived as Kuha 350 type along with three other war-damaged cars. Four of the eleven cars were re-electricalized and became Deha 290 type, and were used on branch lines such as the Daishi Line and Anamori Line. The paint color was also changed from cream + maroon to a two-tone red + yellow color, and the Deha 230 group, which became relatively small due to the newly built large cars, was indispensable in supporting the transportation capacity, such as being used in conjunction with wooden cars and steel cars made in the Taisho era.

This book traces the history of the Keikyu 230 series over roughly half a century (1930-1978), covering its appearance from the postwar reconstruction period after 1948 to just before the body renewal that began in 1962.
