RM Re-Library is a series of reprints of two or three volumes of past masterpieces from the long history of RM LIBRARY , which has already exceeded 270 issues. The 12th volume in the series is the Tokorozawa Car Factory Story, a story from the former Seibu Railway. It first appeared in volumes 30 and 31 of the RM Library (written by Nishio Keisuke).

Immediately after the end of the war, Musashino Railway and (former) Seibu Railway were merged to form the current Seibu Railway, which adopted a policy of building new carriages in-house, instead of ordering from specialized manufacturers. Due to the shortage of materials after the war, there was extremely strict control over the building of new carriages, but Seibu Railway focused on receiving carriages damaged in the war from the Japanese National Railways and restoring them in-house. The factory for this purpose was the Fukkosha Tokorozawa Car Factory (later the Seibu Railway Tokorozawa Car Factory).

Having accumulated skills from assembling war-damaged restored cars, the factory was later able to manufacture completely new cars, and for a time was solely responsible for the new cars of Seibu Railway. At the same time, the factory also developed a "side business" of modifying various cars and delivering them to local private railways, so cars with Tokorozawa Factory nameplates could be seen all over the country. However, due to changes in social conditions, the amount of new cars built gradually decreased, and only the inspection work was transferred to the Musashi-gaoka Vehicle Inspection and Repair Center, completing its mission in 2000 .

This book is a comprehensive history of the Tokorozawa Railway Factory from its inception to its demise, compiled by the author, a Seibu Railway insider. It is packed with valuable photographs and documents.
