RM Re-Library is a reprint of two or three volumes of past masterpieces from the long history of RM LIBRARY, which has already exceeded 260 issues. The fourth volume of the new series is about Japanese National Railway diesel cars, following the first volume, and features "Kiha 41000 and its family." This was published as the honorable first and second volumes of the RM Library, and is a masterpiece that established the concept of the series at this point.
The Kiha 41000 series (later Kiha 04, 05, and 06) was the first standard model of diesel railcars for the Japanese National Railways, and established various technologies and operational aspects. It was used widely throughout the country. Furthermore, it is worth noting that a large number of these cars, 77 in total, were sold to private railways, which contributed greatly to their modernization. The last car was in service until the end of the 1990s, so even relatively young fans will be familiar with it. This book is considered the definitive version of this model, based on various primary sources and interviews with people involved in the development who were still alive at the time of writing. This book should be read as a set with RM Re-Library 1 "The Story of Kiha 07" by the same author.
