The second volume of the Awaji Kotsu Railway Line ( 23.4km between Sumoto and Fukura), which existed on Awaji Island until 1966 , provides an overview of each station and introduces historical rolling stock.
When the section between Sumoto Exit and Ichimura opened in November 1922 , passenger and freight cars pulled by steam locomotives began operating, and from 1931 , gasoline-powered trains began to be used. After the war, in 1948 (Showa 23 ), train operation began due to electrification, and in preparation for this, the company took over five electric cars from Nankai Electric Railway, converted existing gasoline cars into electric cars, and purchased other vehicles from Hanshin Electric Railway. However, train operation continued until 1966 , when it was abolished.
