In 1926 (Taisho 15), the Ministry of Railways launched its first semi-steel electric railcar.
These were the Deha 73200 series, later the Moha 30 series. Since then, improvements have been made and electric trains of various specifications have been added one after another, building the foundation for electric train operations in the Kanto and Kansai regions that continue to this day.
However, as the situation in the Pacific War worsened in 1944 (Showa 19), the wartime model Moha 63 type appeared, and this lineage came to an end.
This book focuses on prewar JNR trains from the late 1940s, when they were in use in a form close to their original form, before they were replaced with globe-type ventilators as part of the so-called renewal and repair project II, and is divided into three volumes to introduce the information, including content already published.
The first volume features the 30 series, its improved version the 31 series, and the two-door 32 series for the Yokosuka Line.

[Volume 1]
It includes the 30 series, its improved version the 31 series, and the two-door 32 series for the Yokosuka Line.

[ Middle Volume]
This features the 40 Series, which was the first Ministry of Railways train to feature 20m-class motor cars and established the standard for subsequent ministry line trains.

[Volume 2]
This collection includes the 42 series, including the "current train" Moha 52, which could be said to be the pinnacle of pre-war national railways, as well as the 51 series, the pioneer of suburban trains.
