This book is a re-edited and compiled into a book from "The Secret Story of the Birth of JNR Vehicles from Akira Hoshi's Album," which was published in the monthly Rail Magazine over a two-year period from the February 2011 issue (No. 329) to the February 2013 issue (No. 353).
This was a dreamlike series in which the talented researcher Seiichi Okada explained the treasured photo albums of former JNR Deputy Chief Engineer Akira Hoshi, who was responsible for the creation of many of the famous rolling stock that has thrilled our hearts, including the Shonan Electric Railway, SuHa 43, Nahane 10, Kodama, Tokai, 20 series passenger cars, KiHa 82, 581, 301, and Shinkansen 0 series.
However, Hoshi passed away as the serialization ended, and Okada Seiichi, who was working on publishing the story in book form, also passed away suddenly.
This book is not only a rare untold story about the birth of JNR vehicles, but also a tribute to the two men.
