RM Re-Library is a reprint of two or three volumes of past masterpieces from the long history of RM LIBRARY , which has already exceeded 270 issues. The 15th volume of the series focuses on electric locomotives that have characteristics of both private railways and national railways. It is a combined edition of RM Library volumes 3 and 4 , "The Genealogy of Electric Locomotives Acquired by Private Railways (Vol. 1 and 2)" (by Yoshikawa Fumio).
"Acquisition" here refers to the acquisition by JNR of private railway lines for wartime transportation and their incorporation into the network. In the metropolitan area, this includes the Nambu Line and Ome Line, while in regional areas it includes the Senseki Line, Minobu Line, Oito Line, Iida Line, Hanwa Line, and Ube Line. The electric locomotives that were acquired along with the lines were given the JNR locomotive type and number, and many were later sold to other private railways and continued to have long lives.
Many of these locomotives have unique technical features and a wide variety of forms. They also have many interesting points to note, such as their strange fates. These are categorized and explained by the railway company that acquired them.
The author is the late Fumio Yoshikawa, a leading authority on the history of private railway vehicles. This book is not only a valuable resource, but also a first-class read.
