The Moha 100 series was the company's first semi-steel electric railcar, newly constructed by Keisei Electric Tramway, the predecessor of Keisei Electric Railway, when Narita Airport opened in 1926 (Taisho 15).
25 cars were newly manufactured, and all of them, including those that had been damaged in a depot fire or during the war, had their bodies updated after the war and served as Keisei's main vehicles.
In the 1960s, all of the cars were transferred to Shin-Keisei Electric Railway, but despite their small size, they were highly valued during a period of rapid increase in passenger numbers and continued in service until 1987 (Showa 62).
This book includes 25 100 series cars and 10 related 126 series cars, and covers their 60-year-plus service throughout the Keisei and Shin-Keisei eras, with color pages included to focus on the differences in their individual forms.
The first volume looks back on the train's history from when it was new to after it was transferred to Shin-Keisei and up to the color change in the 1970s.
