The Hokuriku Railroad Komatsu Line was a railroad that ran in an almost straight line over flat terrain from behind Komatsu Station, then the Japanese National Railways, to Ugawa Yusenji, 5.9 km away.
From the late Meiji period to the Taisho period, a private railway line ran to the Yusenji copper mine, which was a thriving industry at the time.
At the end of the Taisho period, plans were made to use the roadbed of this railway to build the Hakusan Electric Railway from Komatsu to Kamashimizu on the Kana Railway (later the Hokuriku Railway Kana Line).
The section between Komatsu and Yusenji (later Ukawa-Yusenji) opened on May 15, 1929 (Showa 4).
After the war, it became the Hokuriku Railway Komatsu Line, and there were plans to extend it to the Nomi Line to Kaga-Sano, but this never came to fruition.
Due to a continuing decline in passenger numbers since peaking in 1967, the line was closed on May 31, 1986.
