Now, the true philosophy of car making is revealed, as well as the story behind the GT-R and its otherworldly new technology.
Mr. GT-R Kazutoshi Mizuno explains the R35 GT-R

The GT-R "My philosophy and my original technologies" (The philosophy and feelings for customers that I put into the R35 GT-R, and the hidden amazing technology) is a premium book in which Kazutoshi Mizuno, who created the "multi-performance supercar, the Nissan R35 GT-R" as its development chief and is known worldwide as "Mr. GT-R" and "Father of GT-R," has handwritten all of the truth behind the car, which has never been made public before, including his "philosophy of manufacturing, his feelings for customers, and the hidden amazing technology."

An essential bible for R35 GT-R owners who want to keep it with their car

Why did "world-class performance and world-class brand value" suddenly emerge in just three short years? And why has its appeal remained undiminished more than 15 years after its release? "The GT-R" answers these questions sincerely.

While planning and developing the R35 GT-R as a playing manager, Kazutoshi Mizuno incorporated his own "unique advanced technology and know-how, as well as a global strategy for planning and branding." However, the essence of the car has not yet been made public to anyone, not even to Nissan personnel, let alone the media. This is because, more than 10 years after the car's launch, Mizuno had resolved not to reveal it "until its value had been proven in the market." If the market's evaluation and judgement was "no," he thought he would keep it to himself and go to his grave (his own words).

A unique book written by the person in charge of development himself

Now that the market has answered the question after more than 15 years, the person in charge of development himself conveys in his own handwriting the "advanced, unique and original technology, the philosophy of craftsmanship and origin of ideas, and the path of thinking and conceptualization" that only the R35 GT-R possesses, for users and fans of the R35 GT-R, and for the engineers who will create its future. "The GT-R" is a book like no other in the world.

For example, here are some examples: Despite having 10 horsepower less than the Porsche 911 Turbo S and weighing 100 kg more, why is the R35 GT-R faster in acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h and in lap times around the Nürburgring circuit? Why do so many drivers survive unscathed even when they crash into a wall at a speed of 200 km/h? How has a global brand been built in such a short period of time with zero (no) advertising expenses?

The author has refrained from disclosing such unique philosophy, essential thoughts, technology, etc. This book is aimed at R35 GT-R enthusiasts, and will convey a variety of information directly from Mr. GT-R himself, with binding specifications that will allow you to feel one with the car, and will also be published as a sort of bible for the R35 GT-R.

A carbon cover is used to emphasize the "R35 GT-R = a sense of unity with the car"

In including unpublished content and precious photographs, Mizuno focused on the "R35 GT-R = a sense of oneness with the car," the high quality that only the real thing can have, and the vintage value that increases with time. For this reason, the front and spine of the book are made of carbon panels, the same as the parts used in the center console of the 2013 model (pictured above).

The book will be produced by Challenge Co., Ltd., which actually produces almost all of the carbon fiber parts for the R35 GT-R, using the same manufacturing equipment and methods as the R35 GT-R at the company's headquarters factory. The finish is the same as the carbon fiber rear wing of the R35 GT-R, with a carbon fiber panel painted with a matte black clear coat (50-60 microns thick), and the book title embossed in gold. This recreates the high quality matte finish that Mizuno was particular about when developing the R35 GT-R.

With the R35 GT-R nearing the end of production and the shift to EVs underway, Kazutoshi Mizuno has something to say to everyone:

"Magazines and guidebooks about the R35 GT-R have been published all over the world and are still popular, but they are written by critics and writers who have taken an outside perspective and based their thoughts on stories from other people and PR materials from the manufacturer. Now, with the global shift to EVs (electric vehicles), interest in high-performance sports cars with gasoline engines has increased, including in terms of speculative value, and the market price of used cars has also skyrocketed."

"Now, 15 years after its launch, the Nissan R35 GT-R is nearing the end of production, with each year's model selling out immediately after its release. Now that we've reached this point, I want to handwrite this book myself and share with R35 GT-R owners and fans the information I've kept to myself and kept to myself until now: 'my philosophy on car-making and my passion for our products; the scenario in which we developed the world's best, most high-performance supercar in an extremely short period of time, and established it in the market as a global brand; the unique, world-class proprietary technology hidden within the R35 GT-R, and the special performance, functions, and reliability that it incorporates.'"

【table of contents】

Chapter 1
My philosophy on car making and what I wanted for the R35 GT-R were:

・My engineering philosophy: Finely honed, "ultimate, waste-free technique creates lasting beauty." ・Japanese manufacturing, with its "foresighted, hospitable spirit and well-honed, artisanal skills," gave birth to my philosophy and the R35 GT-R.

The keyword is "goal rationality"

Chapter 2
What is the R35 GT-R? And what kind of excitement and wonder does it bring to its users?

・The passion that went into the R35 GT-R product and the emotion it creates in the hearts of users・The world's only "multi-performance supercar" created for more active freedom. I have always wondered, "What is a car?" The R35 GT-R seeks and creates the ultimate freedom and lasting value・Its history began on the starting grid of the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours・The origins of the R35 GT-R, the idea, concept and essence of the PM platform package, and the journey to its development・The development of the world's first PM integrated platform package began with a prototype V35 Skyline・Development that inspires people's hearts - the "World of GT-R'', created together with users
・A super car with ultimate rationality that was created precisely because it had no history or brand.

Chapter 3
The world created by the R35 GT-R

・What kind of car can handle 300km/h on a daily basis?
・Topics that support super performance

Anyone, anywhere, anytime.…Enjoy the ultimate super car Iife

・The height of the wall and the difficult technique…Even when driving at 300km/h, the tire has the same "shape" as when driving at 100km/h.
・Vehicle packaging performance and the realization of their unique ``optimum weight theory''. ・And their mission to their users: ・Ensuring incredible manufacturing precision...by producing on a mass-production line where other vehicles are mixed in. ・Establishing new ``Nissan Performance Centers (NPC)'' around the world to handle sales and maintenance. ・Cars and team members honed by participating in races only by the development team. ・With zero advertising expenses, they created a top brand recognized worldwide in just one year. The keyword was ``Breaking the dojo!''
- Why was I given full authority by CEO Ghosn to create the R35 GT-R under such an unusual structure?
・And those days of conflict: within the large company called Nissan, an individual wanted to create an independent small company (team) that would lead the world.

Chapter 4
Unreleased unique technology and mechanisms packed into the R35 GT-R

- Why does the R35 GT-R combine maximum speed with superb performance that can be enjoyed safely anywhere?
・The development of an independent transaxle exclusive to the R35 GT-R and the combination of a carbon propeller shaft. ・How can a vehicle weighing 1,700 kg achieve the world's fastest acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds with only 500 horsepower?
- Why is it possible to drive one-handed at 300km/h on the Autobahn and enjoy a conversation with the person next to you?
- How is it possible to achieve the world's best aerodynamic performance (air resistance, downforce, and interior quietness) with a standard coupe-like exterior?
-Why are there expressions of surprise and gratitude from all over the world saying, "How did it survive crashing into a wall at 200km/h without any injuries?"
- Why did you choose to conduct development on Germany's Nürburgring and Autobahn rather than on your own in-house test course?
How was the R35 GT-R forged? A series of unimaginable "abnormal tests" that go beyond common sense!
- How did Kazutoshi Mizuno "develop and hone a ragtag team and a car that was unlike anything in the world"?
