Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu), which has a 444.2km line network radiating out from Nagoya to the Chubu region, operates short two-car trains on many of its lines to surrounding cities. On the other hand, longer trains are used between larger cities such as Gifu and Toyohashi, and trains are organized and operated in flexible and efficient configurations ranging from two to eight cars. This wide variety of train configurations is one of the attractions of Meitetsu trains, even from the perspective of railway enthusiasts.
This book is a sequel to the "Meitetsu Vehicle Encyclopedia" published in 2018. It features detailed illustrations of trains by railway vehicle designer Katsumi Kondo, detailed diagrams of train formations from each era, commentary by railway writer Tsukasa Yamada, and supplementary photographs of actual trains. It records Meitetsu train formations from the 1980s to the present.
It will bring back memories for those who have seen Meitetsu trains from that era, and for those who have never seen the real thing, it will be a reliable resource and allow you to enjoy the endlessly fascinating Meitetsu trains through the numerous illustrations of train formations, both old and new.
